Nine Daughters
Founded by Academy Award® and BAFTA-nominated producer Fodhla Cronin O’Reilly, Nine Daughters is an independent film production company based in Kerry, Ireland and London, United Kingdom.
With a focus on auteur-driven, female-centric storytelling that transcends language and cultural barriers, Nine Daughters develops and produces internationally-recognized narrative fiction and documentaries for a worldwide audience. Our feature films have premiered at Cannes, Telluride, Toronto, Sundance, and Venice amongst others.
Nine Daughters most recently produced God’s Creatures, directed by Saela Davis & Anna Rose Holmer (The Fits) and starring Emily Watson (Breaking the Waves), Paul Mescal (Normal People) and Aisling Franciosi (The Nightingale), which premiered in Directors’ Fortnight at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, and was distributed in the US by A24.
Alongside The King’s Speech producers See-Saw Films, Nine Daughters produced the feature film Ammonite, starring Kate Winslet (Titanic) and Saoirse Ronan (Lady Bird). The film was selected to screen at the 2020 Cannes, Telluride and Toronto Film Festivals.
Nine Daughters previously produced three-time BAFTA nominated Lady Macbeth, directed by William Oldroyd (Eileen), and starring Florence Pugh (Little Women) and Naomi Ackie (Whitney Houston). The film was also nominated for fifteen BIFAs (winning five), Best International Feature Film at the Independent Spirit Awards and won The Discovery Award at the European Film Academy Awards.
Nine Daughters also produced the documentary feature My Generation, starring Michael Caine, which premiered at the 2017 Venice Film Festival and was released in the UK by Lionsgate on 400 screens.
Prior to founding Nine Daughters, Cronin O’Reilly produced the animated short film Head Over Heels, directed by Timothy Reckart, which premiered at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival and later won an Annie Award, the Cartoon d’Or and was nominated for Best Animated Short at the 85th Academy Awards.
