Nova Productions is a multi-award-winning film production company based in Galway, Ireland, dedicated to producing impactful films that challenge perceptions and amplify the voices of under-represented communities.
Founded by Teresa Lavina and Gavin Lennon, the company focuses mainly on themes of human rights, social justice, and cultural identity, creating compelling documentaries and narrative films that resonate with audiences worldwide.
Our acclaimed feature documentary, Untold Secrets first documentary on the mother and baby homes in Ireland, premiered as the closing film at the 2021 Galway Film Fleadh and earned multiple international accolades, including Best Human Rights Film at the Toronto International Women Film Festival, Best Social Justice Film at the Vancouver Independent Film Festival, and Best Director at the Amsterdam International Film Festival.
Mincéir celebrates the resilience and heritage of the Irish Traveller community and can be viewed on the RTÉ Player.
Nova Productions has also contributed to Spain’s cultural narrative through two significant projects:
- Las Barreras: Un Relato de Dos Barrios – an intimate portrait of two communities navigating change.
- Las Casas Baratas de Romo: 100 Años de Historia – a documentary chronicling a century of heritage in Romo.
We are proud recipients of production funding from Screen Ireland, which supports our work, including the upcoming feature film Worlds Apart. Currently in pre-production, this ambitious project is set to be filmed in late 2026.
With additional support from The Arts Office, Creative Ireland, and TG4, Nova Productions remains steadfast in its mission to craft meaningful stories that foster understanding and inspire action on a global scale.
