Safe to Create launches Governance Roadmap to promote dignity at work in arts and creative sectors
Thu 28th November 2024
In response to its May 2024 research report Influencing Change: Pathways to Dignity at Work Through Good Governance, Safe to Create is excited to launch the Governance Roadmap, a new resource designed to assist arts and creative organisations, as well as their Boards, in fostering a culture of dignity at work.
The Governance Roadmap is a direct response to recommendation three of Influencing Change, which identified significant skills and information gaps in governance practices. This new tool offers key pointers and practical advice for organisations, Board members, and Trustees, with a focus on addressing the governance and dignity issues highlighted in the report. It includes links to helpful guidelines, templates, checklists, and training opportunities, available both from Safe to Create and experts in the field of governance including the Charities Regulator, the Wheel and Carmichael.
The launch of the Governance Roadmap reflects Safe to Create’s ongoing commitment to equipping trustees and leaders in the arts and creative sectors with the necessary resources to champion dignity in the workplace. The initiative aims to empower organisations to lead by example and cultivate a safer, more respectful working environment for all.
According to Safe to Create, meaningful change in organisational culture cannot be achieved without strong leadership. It is crucial for Board members and senior management to role model organisational values, setting the tone for the overall culture. Good governance, starting at the top, is essential to ensuring a safe and dignified work environment for everyone involved in the arts and creative sectors.
