Course Profile
Research shows that continued exposure to microaggressions in the workplace causes decreased performance, heightened stress and a loss of confidence and well-being. This course teaches participants how to identify and address microaggressions - every day, subtle, intentional and unintentional actions or behaviours that perpetuate bias toward racially marginalized groups in the workplace. The course provides actionable steps participants can take to deal with microaggressions in real time. It also prepares participants to better support, collaborate with and advocate for marginalized groups through allyship.
By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
• Understand the meaning and types of microaggressions
• Recognise the common occurrences and negative impact of microaggressions
• Discover actionable steps to minimise the occurrence of microaggressions and ways to appropriately challenge microaggressions that we witness, experience or commit
• Identify how to advocate for marginalised groups through allyship
