Screen Producers Ireland Congratulates Members for Oscars 2025 Shortlist

Screen Producers Ireland is thrilled to celebrate the outstanding achievement of Irish filmmakers, including our own members, whose projects have been shortlisted for the Oscars 2025. We extend our warmest congratulations to the talented teams behind Kneecap, and Room Taken.
 
This is a momentous occasion for the Irish film industry, showcasing the incredible talent and creativity within our community.

Kneecap has received well-deserved recognition with shortlistings for both Best International Feature Film and Best Original Song. This is a particularly significant milestone for Irish language cinema, with Kneecap being only the second Irish language film ever to be shortlisted in the Best International Feature Film category, following in the footsteps of An Cailín Ciúin (The Quiet Girl) in 2022. Comhghairdeas le Wild Card!
Room Taken, a short film funded under Screen Ireland’s Focus Shorts scheme and directed by TJ O’Grady Peyton, has also been shortlisted for Best Live Action Short. This film was produced by SPI member Vico Films.
