Screen Producers Ireland congratulates SPI members Element Pictures and Parallel Films on their respective Oscar nominations for ‘Room’ and 'Brooklyn’.
Both films have been nominated in the Best Picture category. This is a first for Irish film.
Lenny Abrahamson was nominated as Best Director for ‘Room’. Saoirse Ronan (‘Brooklyn’) and Brie Larson (‘Room’) were both nominated forActress in a Leading Rolecategory.
SPI CEO Barbara Galavan said:

The total of nine nominations for Irish talent, reflects the quality and professionalism of the Irish film production sector and its ability to be recognised at the highest international level.
